How you can use seasonal topics to inspire your kids yoga classes.
Sometimes it can be tricky coming up with new and inventive ideas for kids yoga classes. However fear not, just take a step back and think about what's happening in the adult world you see there are endless opportunities.
In November we created a class plan around the theme of Diwali, in March around Easter and in April Earth Day!
Creating inspiring class plans
The first thing we think of at Together Yoga when planning a kids yoga class is, how old are the kids and what sort of topics would they be covering in school. We taught a brother and sister who were learning about Greek mythology and so we magically transported ourselves back to 900BC by way of our time machine (otherwise known as upavistha konasana whilst holding hands)! With flower crowns and story telling we learnt about the story of Zeus and Hercules (we learnt so much we didn't know just preparing for the class)!
Earth day was another opportunity to build in current themes into our classes. By cutting up old yoga mats (thanks for the inspiration #justforkids) and linking to earth friendly choices such as reusable water bottles (yoga pose tadasana) and shopping bags (yoga pose dhanurasana) we enjoyed a fun game of hopscotch and the kids learnt about the importance of our planet. #earthdayyoga
